Shala Dhattu Yojana -
of A Holistic School Development Initiative
Shala Dhattu Yojana is a pioneering initiative designed to support the overall growth and development of school children. The programme goes beyond providing nutritious and healthy meals and addresses key areas such as education, healthcare, sports, uniforms, textbooks, and essential learning facilities.
meritorious students are awarded scholarships, motivating all students to perform better and achieve higher scores in examinations. This comprehensive support system helps students build a strong foundation for better career opportunities in the future.
Schools Adopted Under the Programme
MSECT has adopted schools across multiple languages and regions to ensure inclusive educational development :
- 100 Kannada-medium schools (Classes 1–10)
- 100 Urdu-medium schools (Classes 1–10)
- 10 Tamil-medium schools (Classes 1–10)
- 10 Telugu-medium schools (Classes 1–10)
These schools are located within :
- DDPI South – BEO ranges S1, S2, S3, and S4
- DDPI North – BEO ranges N1, N3, and N4
MSECT 10-Point Programme for Adopted Schools
The Trust’s 10-Point Programme focuses on comprehensive student welfare and school development:
- Provision of daily hot mid-day meals in association with State and Central Government schemes.
- Supply of packaged drinking water (1 litre per child per day) at the Trust’s expense.
- Organization of healthcare camps for students and their parents.
- Distribution of sports equipment and accessories.
- Administration of Hepatitis B vaccinations for students and their parents.
- Infrastructure development and maintenance, including painting, electrical work, toilets, furniture, gardening, and general upkeep.
- Supply of school uniforms, textbooks, and notebooks.
- Awarding scholarships to students scoring above 90% in examinations.
- Conducting monthly parent meetings to promote awareness and involvement in children’s education.
- Distribution of warm clothing to senior citizens among parents of adopted students.
Investment in School Development
An estimated ₹20 lakh per school is allocated for development activities such as infrastructure improvement, painting, gardening, and borewell installation (where required), covering 220 adopted schools.
Vision for the Future
MSECT envisions expanding the Shala Dhattu Yojana to adopt 1,000 schools across both rural and urban areas, benefiting approximately 2 lakh students. Preparations are underway to implement this expanded programme under the 10-Point Scheme in the 2011–12 academic year, further strengthening access to quality education and student welfare.
