Subsidized Hot Meals
Mohsin Shariff Educational & Charitable Trust (MSECT) launched the Daily Hot Meals Program on 15 August 2011 to support needy individuals across Bengaluru city. Under this initiative, nearly one lakh beneficiaries, including people from BPL and general categories as well as senior citizens, receive nutritious mid-day meals at a highly subsidized cost. Each meal consists of approximately 250 grams of rice and 150 ml of sambar, prepared using first-quality ingredients and served within the BBMP limits. The meals are provided at a subsidized price of ₹3 per plate per day, ensuring accessibility without any age restriction for beneficiaries. The actual cost of preparing and distributing each meal is ₹5, which includes food ingredients, transportation, labor, and administrative expenses. While beneficiaries contribute ₹3 per plate, the remaining cost is borne by MSECT with the support of donors and well-wishers. As part of its special commitment to senior citizens, hot mid-day meals are served free of cost to elderly beneficiaries, fully sponsored by the Trust. This initiative reflects MSECT’s ongoing dedication to food security, dignity, and compassionate service.
